We get a lot of patients that are hurting and worried that surgery is their only option. A rotator cuff tear and shoulder injuries, in general, are particularly painful. And although we love to talk about the cutting edge therapies and options available at Phoenix Men’s Health Center, we understand that sometimes you just want to hear from someone who’s been through it. We’ll be featuring some success stories from patients like you that found their solution at PHXMHC. Today, we’ll hear from John, who joined us as a new patient when he lost shoulder mobility.
John’s Experience With a Rotator Cuff Tear
My shoulder was actually hurting a lot and it was very painful. I was actually unable to move it past this area, and so I actually, off of a recommendation, found about the Phoenix Men’s Health Center, so I stopped in here. Instead of waiting at a doctor’s office for an hour or being referred to a specialist, they called me in right away. They got me an X-ray. Within a couple of days, I had my results. They explained all my options and said surgery was definitely one of the options because I did tear my rotator cuff.
We ended up doing prolotherapy, and that was my first experience with Phoenix Men’s Health Center. We did it [prolotherapy] on a Thursday afternoon at about 4:00. The following day I woke up ready to go to the gym, and I could move my shoulder. I could actually have mobility. Slowly but surely over the next couple of weeks, I was able to start off very light weights and everything because I do live a very active lifestyle. So, that was my first experience with Phoenix Men’s Health Center. I’m actually being pain-free for the first time in a couple of months.
It is actually pretty amazing because other people that I talked to actually, they said that they were out for six to eight months, no lifting, nothing, no exercise. Living an active lifestyle, that does take a lot out of you. Within a couple of weeks, you could actually start moving your shoulder and lifting really small movements and things like that, but within about two months I was feeling a good pump at the gym again, and for anybody that does live an active lifestyle, you know how important that is to you.
I always tell people that ask me about the clinic that it’s not a clinic, it’s not a doctor’s office, it’s the Phoenix Men’s Health Center. It’s not really even a center. It’s more of a community. You walk in here, the first person that you see knows you by name. The second person that you see knows you by name. They ask you about something you told them about last time. This is one of the only facilities that I found that actually care about their patients and actually get to know their patients on a personal level, and say, “How are you doing today?” They care about you and exactly what they’re doing to you.
I would recommend this community. It is the Phoenix Men’s Health Center, however, I do think that they cater to women as well. It is very nice to come in here and have … Talking to a man that has a life outside of here that knows exactly … Has life experiences, that actually cares about you. Even if it’s not your primary doctor that you work with here, the next doctor will have the same amount of care. From the front desk person to the person that draws your blood, to the doctor that you’re working with, it’s just a phenomenal experience.
John isn’t just one of a lucky few. Studies have shown that prolotherapy can reduce pain and increase mobility even more than surgery for chronic rotator cuff lesions.1 Another study found that after 3 treatments of prolotherapy patients had a 90% reduction in shoulder pain and were able to be fully active again! 2Even if you had rotator cuff surgery that failed, prolotherapy has been found to reduce shoulder pain and improve shoulder function.3
So, if you’re concerned that you might have a rotator cuff tear or even if you just can’t move your shoulder the way you used to; set up a free 15-minute consultation to find out what’s really going on inside your shoulder. And we’ll give you all the options.
